A series of explosions and fires occurred at a sugar dust refinery. Explosions occurred throughout the building as a result of sugar dust accumulating across the facility and meeting an ignition source which caused a chain reaction of secondary explosions. Eight workers died at the scene, six later died in hospital and dozens of others were injured.
